Paignton’s First-Ever Kidical Mass

Because the Kids Are All Right (and on Bikes!)

Picture it: Paignton seafront alive with colour, the sound of bike bells mingling with music, and bubbles drifting in the summer air. Families riding side-by-side, children pedalling freely, parents and grandparents smiling.

That’s the vision we’ll bring to life on Tuesday 19 August at 10 am, when Kidical Mass Torbay takes to the streets for the very first time.

Kidical Mass isn’t just a bike ride – it’s a glimpse of what Torbay could look like if cycling felt safe, welcoming, and fun for everyone. For one morning, we’ll ride together, chatting and laughing, and show that our streets can be joyful, healthy spaces for people, not just vehicles.

Why it matters

  • For our kids – Every child should be able to ride to school, the park or the beach without fear.
  • For our health – Cycling is good for hearts, lungs and smiles – and it’s even better when we do it together.
  • For our community – Events like this connect us, slow us down, and make our towns feel alive.

What to expect

We’ll ride a gentle 3km loop around Paignton, with music, bubbles, bright colours and big smiles. All ages and abilities are welcome – from toddlers on bike seats, trailers or tagalongs to grandparents on e-bikes. If it’s been a while since you’ve been on a bike, this is your perfect, no-pressure way back.
